Terrier Group

The feisty, short-legged breeds in the Terrier Group were originally bred to go underground or in tunnels or small places in pursuit of rodents and other vermin. The breeding of long-legged terrier breeds were designed to dig out varmints rather than burrowing in after them, while the group’s “bully” breeds, created long ago for dastardly pursuits like bullbaiting, are popular companion dogs today. Breeds in the Terrier Group are excellent competitors in the sport of barn hunt, scent and nose work, and even agility to name a few.
